Bear Lhasa Apso Mix Holyoke, MA

Meet Bear! He will steal your heart the first time you see him. Bear is a 1 year old Lhasa Apso mixed with who knows what and he weighs about 22 lbs. His foster mom thinks that he could be part Labrador based on his temperament, always happy! His hair is curly like a poodle but we are stumped as to his breed mix. Bear loves everyone that he meets and he will let them know by giving kisses and tail wags. He will benefit from learning his basic manners. He has sit down pat but he needs to learn that jumping is not ok. He is a very smart dog and would do great at agility or could even be a candidate as a therapy or service dog. Bear is working on house training and is great in his crate. He was a champ at the dog park, chasing the tennis ball with the big dogs and got along with all of the dogs there. He does tend to pull on the leash but he spent a long time in the shelter and is already learning quickly to keep the leash loose with some guidance from his foster mom. He just LOVES his foster mom! He follows her everywhere she goes, tail wagging of course. He is extremely food motivated and will be able to learn some great tricks. Bear will benefit from a family or a person with an active lifestyle. If you are looking for a dog to take camping, hiking, kayaking, boating, exploring, etc then Bear is your guy! Since he tried to jump into the running shower on his first night in his foster home we are assuming he likes to swim. Bear loves his rawhide bones. You can see from the video that he will play with them on his own! They keep him busy and content and he doesn't mind being pet or handled while he is eating them, although I'm sure he would prefer to be left alone to his awesome bone. He plays fetch in the house with squeaky toys. Bear will certainly brighten your life!
