Meet Jessie
Say hello to Jessie!
Jessie is a sweet 4 year old female black and tan German Shepherd just waiting for a family to love!
Jessie lost her right eye during a bear attack and has some scars on her legs. Other than her sight, the attack did not leave any other physical disabilities and she is fine otherwise.
Jessie's former owners originally contacted GSR&RC to surrender her because they said she was dog aggressive. We evaluated her and found that she was reactive to other dogs, probably due to the bear attack and didn't know how to behave around them.
Our "Keep the GSD Home" program paid for Jessie to attend Board and Train classes to work on her reactivity and also paid for private lessons FOR THE FAMILY to teach them how to manage her. All was well for over a year until THE FAMILY stopped following what they were taught and contacted us to surrender her.
Jessie is currently in Board and Train program at The K9Edge in Danvers MA, a GSR&RC sponsor, primarily because we didn't have an open foster home but we also wanted to evaluate her reported behavior. Jessie remembered everything we taught her and is doing extremely well as you can see in the video! She is doing great with dogs of her own size or larger with proper introductions.
Jessie loves people and is great with kids. She would thrive in a home where she could continue to play with kids as she loved to cuddle with the two young children in her former home.
Jessie is very playful dog who loves scratches and playing with her stuffed toys. She is a quick learner learner who knows the sit, paw and back commands.
Jessie lived with a cat, but may not get along with all cats. She has been known to chase strange cats outdoors.
Meet and greets with Jessie will take place at The K9Edge in Danvers MA by appointment only. Approved adopters will attend training with Jessie at the Edge so they can get to know each other and bond. Because Jessie is a GSR&RC rescue dog, she and her new family get free training for life at The K9Edge!
