Meet George. George is an 8 year old male red and white Japanese chin.
I am neutered, heartworm negative, have all my shots and am micro-chipped too. I was found wandering a neighborhood and taken in by a very nice family. The only problem was, the family lived somewhere that only allowed 3 dogs, and I made 4. They got caught one day by a code enforcement officer, and ended up calling JCCARE to surrender me. It’s OK, because I’m a happy go lucky kind of guy, and just want to be somewhere that I am loved and pampered. My foster family is great. I adore foster dad and sit at his feet all the time, tilting my head and hoping to charm him out of some human food. I don’t get up on the furniture unless you invite me, and I never bark. I am a very quiet kind of pooch. I love to do chin spins when you let me outside, and then when you call me to come back in. Foster mom says I have the softest fur ever and I remind her of a snuggle teddy bear.

When foster mom took me to the vet, it was discovered that I have a heart murmur so I am now on medication. I take my medicine two times a day wrapped in cheese or a “pill pocket”. I don’t give foster mom any trouble about taking it either. I’m a lot more spunky and fun now that I take medication, too. The medication does make me need to go outside a lot, though. I walk well on a leash, and stay right by your side. I am also crate trained, although my foster family doesn’t make me stay in one. At night I like to sleep on the floor in a soft doggy bed by my foster dad and mom’s bed. I am piddle pad trained, but foster mom says I need to work on my aim some.

If I could pick my new forever family, I would like someone who could take me to work or who is home all day. I would also like a doggy door, so you don’t have to let me out all the time or walk me. This is because my heart medication makes me need to go outside a lot to do my business. I love to sit in a soft lap and be snuggled by foster dad and my human foster family. I am checked out with kids 8 years and older, but could live with someone 6 or 7 years old.

Adoption Process: If you think your home could be my forever home , start by filling out the application found on our JCCARE website at www.japanesechinrescue.org. The application is under the Forms menu.

If you are not ready to adopt yet but would like to help this dog, please click on the purple SPONSOR ME button above the name. Your donation will help us to pay for the care of this dog until he/she finds a furever home.

JCCARE also maintains the lives of many senior and special needs Chin in our Sanctuary program. These dogs are not listed on Petfinder, as their health issues make them unlikely to ever be adopted. If you are a lover of the breed, could you please consider sponsoring one of our seniors? You can find their pictures and stories under OUR CHIN on our web site: www.japanesechinrescue.org
