READ MORE ABOUT PAISLEY!

Paisley is a heartbreaker. She is a stunning 2 year old, silver F1 Labradoodle rescued in the 11th hour from a high-kill shelter in North Carolina. She was dumped at the shelter by her former owners for "reasons unknown." We came to learn those former owners were in fact running a puppy mill and poor Paisley has suffered tremendously because of this. She truly is the sweetest girl in the world and she literally breaks our hearts.

She came to us heartworm positive, riddled in parasites and covered from head to toe in a rash vets originally diagnosed as "flea allergy dermatitis" and a systemic yeast infection. She was scheduled to be euthanized because of all of this. We later discovered this poor angel has demodectic mange that went untreated for most of her short life and it had run rampant on her body to the point where it completely shut down her immune system.

The great news is that Paisley has been treated for heartworm and her other maladies and is doing BEAUTIFULLY in her foster home. Because she was never socialized to humans prior to coming into the DRC program, it took some time for this gentle sweet angel to come out of her protective shell. But oh what a miraculous transformation!

Paisley is a beautiful and unique girl with an easy going laid back personality. She can be timid and shy at first but warms up quickly once she feels safe and comfortable. She needs time to adjust to new environments. But once she knows that she is home, she is the sweetest most loving and gentle soul who wants nothing more than to feel safe and loved by her people. She just needs a little extra time to adjust to new people and surroundings. But with patience, love, affection and gentle encouragement and coaxing, Paisley blossoms. She is quite the lover girl once she gets comfortable.

Like all young, doodles Paisley can be playful active and energetic and will need plenty of daily exercise, stimulation and room to run and play in order to thrive. She loves to play with her foster siblings and MUST have another well- mannered dog or dogs in her new home for companionship. Canine companionship is really the key to this girl's stability.

She is a very healthy girl but Paisley's skin issues will need to be monitored and managed throughout her life. Poor baby really suffered with this for a very long time before coming to us! We do have it under control and Paisley is feeling a lot better now. She will need to stay on her current grain free food and be supplemented with dietary oils such as fish and primrose. Because she spent so much time in the company of other dogs in her early life, Paisley thrives in a multi-dog household with pups of all ages and sizes, and absolutely MUST have another well-mannered dog or dogs for company. She is doing so well with her commands now and is walking beautifully on a leash with a harness.

Paisley will need a very special home and family. She will need a calm, adult household with a fenced in yard, and a patient, loving, compassionate dog savvy, family willing to provide her with everything she needs and so deserves.

This girl is certain to pull at your heartstrings. She is a lovely, lovely dog who just needs the right home and family. Paisley is spayed, micro-chipped, UTD on all vaccines and preventatives and will be a wonderful companion for the right person or family.

DRC ADOPTION POLICIES

DRC Inc. has adoption requirements and policies in place to ensure the safety, well-being and appropriate home placement of every doodle dog in our program.
Adorable as they may be and in spite of the hype, doodles ARE NOT FOR EVERYONE! They are highly intelligent, active, emotional, high maintenance dogs that require special attention, care and the serious commitment of an experienced dog owner.

Consequently, DRC does not typically adopt to first time dog owners, families with children under 10 years of age or those not experienced with the needs of large sporting dogs that have extensive grooming and exercise requirements.

Please read through our policies and be certain that your home environment and lifestyle are both compatible with, and appropriate for a doodle BEFORE you apply.

In many and most cases, a PHYSICAL FENCE IS REQUIRED in order to be considered for a DRC rescue doodle.

DRC Adoption donations typically range from: $250 - $500 and vary according to the age, health, temperament and location of each dog. Every doodle is an individual and every doodle has his/her own specific needs and requirements. Adopters are selected based on compatibility. NOT on a "first come, first serve basis. At no time does DRC ever put the desires of applicants, before or above the needs and requirements of rescue doodles in our program.
