Our 4 year old Zara, a beautiful fawn Staffordshire Terrier weighing about 65lbs, was found on the side of the road, gravely injured from having been hit by a car. She was brought to the shelter, where she was treated by the vet staff until we were able to rescue her. Zara was barely able to walk, and a private vet determined her internal organs were swollen and emitting toxins into her bloodstream as well as severe bodily bruising throughout her chest, front & rear legs. Thankfully, a foster home was ready, which is where she has been rehabilitating ever since. Alongside another foster dog and a kitten, Zara has healed from almost all of her injuries and has blossomed into a confident & remarkably sweet young lady! Zara may have suffered moderate nerve damage in her neck, which causes her gait to be a little uneven and her front paws catching on the ground. While she may continue to improve over time, special care should be taken (socks worn) to prevent her from continuously chafing the skin on top of her paws or her nails getting worn down to the quick. Zara does not require anything more than a loving home and family who is aware of her past challenges in life, but capable and willing to provide her a future filled with promise, furry companions, and lots of time to stop and smell the roses!
