Mae Collie Lisle, IL

Mae is a mature, 8 year old lady who offers none of the worries of puppy foolishness- Mae just loves people! She loves to put her head in your lap and let you pet her all day long. She is a quiet girl, not much of a barker. She is trustworthy in the home and sleeps in her crate at night. She enjoys taking walks, does well on a leash, and she stops to sniff at everything!

Now as she has gotten older she has come into some of the usual aging complaints: She is at least partially deaf but she responds well to clapping hands. She has developed some cataracts, which do not seem to affect her eye sight. She takes a commonly-prescribed, inexpensive medication to correct a little urine leakage that was sneaking up on her.

Before she came to us, Mae was found down south digging in garbage dumpsters for food. Not only was she starving, she has a few scars on her nose, most likely from fighting for food. Now that Mae has been in foster care and is getting proper nutrition she has put on some much needed weight and no longer guards her food. Her foster family is even able to give treats to her in the company of other resident pets without any issues. She knows her hard life is behind her and waits patiently for her turn.
