Meet Misty
FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID
Silly, goofy, sweet, gentle those are the words we who know her use to describe Misty the 3 year old Chihuahua mix. This pretty, long legged girl is just a joy to be around with her lopsided grin and her ambling walk. Misty is one of those dogs that just make you smile every time you see her face or watch her prance over to you for some loves.
Misty loves nice long scratches and rubs on her chest and is always ready to settle down on the couch for a nap and a bit of TV watching with her family. We do require that Misty do not go to a home that has kids under 15 as she does get overwhelmed by too much going on.
Misty gets along fine with other small dogs but big dogs scare her. Misty would do best in a household that has other dogs her size or as an only dog where she can get all the love and attention. She is mostly fine with the cats in her foster home; she will on occasion take offense to them if they are being too pushy, but it is just barking.
Misty came from a home in California where the humans were inbreeding and overbreeding the dogs in their home; sadly Misty’s dog mom had been bred so many times and was so old that she began to have problems. Misty was stuck in the birth canal for a while darning cutting off her oxygen supply. As a result Misty has a touch of neurological damage from birth; she won’t get worse and it does not affect her hardly at all. The worst you will notice is that it can sometimes take her an extra second to process information when she is tired or scared. And she does have a funny little prance when she walks; but it doesn't slow her down at all, it is the only thing she has ever known and she gets around great.
Misty is house trained and very easy going. She likes her crate and will often go in on her own just to take a nap; she is very, very easy to live with. She does not enjoy walking on leash, but she does enjoy sitting in the sun in the backyard and she is great in the house. Misty does need a family that will allow her to have quiet time in her crate (her favorite place to nap) and will let her live the quiet, spoiled life she deserves. She will need a home that has a fenced yard so she can sunbathe to her hearts content.
She would love to spend her days sitting in your lap soaking up your love. She really is a playful, happy little girl who has turned lemons into lemonade.
