Arrival story: I lived in a barn with several of my siblings when my person decided to allow us to go to rescue for a better life.

Approximate age / Weight: D.O.B. 11/25/2012 (almost 2 years old) / 35 lbs.

Personality: I am still getting used to all the new things in life that I didn't even know existed before! I really love to play with dogs, and cats are fun, too; though I sometimes think they are more fun than they really are. They never want to play like me! I don't get it, but they're still cool.

I am tentative around people when I first meet them but want to trust them. I'm working on that. If you just go slow with me, have patience and give me a little space, I'll come around quickly. I like people who are polite and don't rush up on me intruding into my personal space. I find it to be so rude! So I'll back away to try to teach them better manners.

I still cannot get used to this leash thing and don't understand why I cannot run around willy-nilly at all times, but I'm trying to cooperate. Getting into a car is a little nerve-racking, but once I'm in, I ride like an old friend. I sit real still and just watch out the window like a good girl.

I am house-trained. I learned that in just one week! Crate-trained, not necessary but I can do it if you like. I do enjoy slippers, socks and anything that belongs to the human I like. I won't ruin anything, but I just might run down the hall with your items in my mouth. So if you pick up after yourself, this won't happen. See, I teach good housekeeping, too! I really love playing with toys! They keep me busy. I'm still a kid and so I get the zoomies in the house. It's really fun and it entertains the human because I turn so fast I lose my footing and look like Fred Flintstone scrambling all around like a nut. If you're a dog, a house is way better than a barn.

Forever home: I would fit best into a home with a physically fenced yard with people who have experience with shy dogs or dogs of my breed. I am fun and sweet and will make you laugh once I'm comfortable. My foster Mom says I'm the silliest dog she's ever had. I take that as a compliment. :)
**A HOME WITH A PHYSICAL FENCE IS REQUIRED and MICHIGAN ONLY ADOPTIONS.

Contact: Please contact mauipurr@yahoo.com for more info on adopting me!

Pre-Adoption Application: To be considered for a dog, it is best to submit a pre-adoption application. The Pre-Adoption Application can be downloaded from our website - http://www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoptionprocess.html. Just complete the application and email it back to wtdr2008@yahoo.com
Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $225 for adult dogs. Different adoption fees apply for older dogs, small breeds and puppies - $125 for senior dogs, $275 for small breed dogs and $250 for puppies, plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.
We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. To meet a dog in person, please see our event calendar for the latest information. Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).
Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.
Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!
