Micah (Longest resident) Domestic Short Hair Eau Claire, WI

Hello, my name is Micah and I am a 2 year old neutered male. My previous owner was my best friend and I was his buddy. We had formed a very special bond, life was great, and I thought that was how it was going to be forever. He suddenly passed away and my life turned upside-down. A temporary foster home was found while family members searched for a permanent home for me, but when none could be found they brought me here. What did I do wrong that I have to live here? Why are there so many cats and strangers here? I am so scared, yet glad that I have food, water, and a clean warm place to stay. My foster home had other cats, dogs, and children. This was a new experience for me and so I hid for a while, but then discovered that everything was just different and I really had nothing to fear. Before you know it I was playing with the other animals, and the tall humans seemed really happy that I felt so comfortable with the little humans. I was very nice to everyone, even in the most stressful of situations. Everyone loved to brush and cuddle me, and even let me sit on their lap and gave me treats just like my previous owner. I played with toys, used the scratching post and was excellent with the litter box. Please understand that I am a very loving and caring cat even though I am timid, hide in the back of my kennel under a stand, and feel the need to hug the ground when I am outside of this safe zone here at the shelter. I am so very frightened and greatly miss a loving home. Can you provide one for me? I truly am an amazing companion, but have heard that black cats have a harder time finding homes. I am worried.
