Meet Cody - Deb

Cody is a Hound mix born in July 2013. We aren’t completely sure on his mix, but we’ve had guesses of: Red Swiss Mountain Dog, Great Dane, Lab, and/or Rhodesian Ridgeback. Cody is very tall, and he has a very big head and feet to grow into. His current weight is 55# but he is at least 10-15# underweight. We are guessing that he will be pushing 100# full grown.

This boy is full of love and is super sweet. He is great with everyone and really likes kids. He was a hit at a recent K-Wings game, where he was mobbed by kids and adults – he did great with all of the attention! Toddlers may not be the best fit with Cody, as he is big and a bit puppy clumsy still himself. This gentle "giant” would do good in any home where love is plentiful. He has a moderate manageable energy level. He is fine with other dogs, fairly submissive, and is just learning to have confidence to play in a pack. Cody has shown only moderate interest in the cat at his foster home, so he should be fine in a home with a feline ruler. This is no guard dog...as he comes running to his foster mommy if something scary like a snow blower is about, but he does have a nice deep bark that may fool someone.

You can meet Cody at Bark's the week of January 20th Monday & Thursday 10a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and Tuesday and Wednesday 10a.m. - 7:00 p.m. while he is at work with his foster mom.

****His adoption fee is $325.****

The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed.

All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws.

Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $25 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.

The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
