Meet HERCULES

Hi! I am Hercules, or Herc to my friends. Nice to meet you all. I was found wandering aimlessly around houses, fields and a farm. A nice lady called Dog Law Enforcement to come for me. The Enforcement officer brought me here to the rescue. I was a sad looking thing. I could hardly stand, as the muscles in my hindquarters were very weak. I was covered in sores and dirty, matted fur. I had callouses on my legs, elbows and belly. I had badly infected ears and eyes. Every rib, back and hip bone was visible. I weighed 80 pounds. After a visit with the nice doctor, it was decided I should weigh 100 to 120 pounds.

It is not known where I came from or what my history is, but none of that matters now that I am here at the rescue where they have surely saved my life! For the past couple months we have been working on getting me healthy. I am clean now and THAT was great, the bathing and the brushing! I LOVED it! I also LOVE to eat! Sleeping is also a favorite of mine, although it did take me a few days to discover how very comfortable my new elevated bed is to lay on! I am not much for walks, but I'll take a short stroll.

I am old. Maybe not so much in years but in body I am. I don't have the greatest sight, due to damage to and infections in my eyes. Infection has also caused damaged to my hearing.

I am not looking for much. A place to eat, sleep and stay warm will suit me fine. But in my silly way, I do also like companionship. Someone to hang out with. Someone who will talk to me, feed me every day and let me go outside for fresh air and to do my business. I'm really not sure how my miles I have left in me, but it sure would be nice to have a family for that time.

SPECIAL NOTE: Herc IS making progress, although he will probably always be a dog with some sort of issue, he is a funny, sweet, big guy! We all here at PCoAR feel he is very special and deserves a loving home for whatever time he has left here on Earth. The last two pictures are from when Hercules first arrived. The fur around his eyes has almost completely grown back(as you can see in the first picture). Fur is also growing back in on his shoulder areas, where there were wounds. He's slowly but surely gaining weight, has recently been neutered and had his badly infected ears flushed out.
