Meet Jordan
Jordan was surrendered with her sister Cyprus to a high kill shelter in Anniston, AL. HLHR stepped in to save them. Jordan is a one year old, female, MinPin/Dachshund mix. She weighs about ten pounds, and wont get any bigger. Cyprus was transferred to another rescue group the first week in January, but Jordan needs a forever home of her own.
Jordan was very poorly socialized as a pup and her foster Mom, Misty, has been taking things very slow. She is now crate trained, and getting along pretty well with other dogs in the foster home. She still barks at the cats and chases them but doesnt really try to hurt them. She wants to play with them, but they arent very cooperative. Jordan has a LOT of energy, and she isnt sure how to deal with it properly. She is working on taking treats gently from hands for good behavior and working on being calm when humans pick her up.
Jordan walks great on a leash, and truly enjoys hiking. Jordan is not sure that she wants to live with small children, but if they have experience with dogs that might be ok. She is a quick learner, but there are many things that she is unsure of simply because she has never seen them before. An experienced adopter would be ideal, especially one willing to work with a professional trainer, that would use positive reinforcement.
