CHARLIE HORSE IS IN A FOSTER HOME

11/21/13: Charlie Horse is a darling little Beagle/Terrier. He's about 10 years old and he weighs 27 lbs. He absolutely loves to cuddle! He's a friendly guy and very social and well-behaved. He gets along great with other dogs and he plays nicely in a playgroup at our shelter. He also gets along with cats. Charlie Horse is crate trained and house trained. He's been socialized with children and really enjoys kids. He has never jumped a 4 ft fence.

Charlie Horse needs a new home because his previous family is in the military and is being sent overseas and are not allowed to bring their two rescue dogs with them. They haven't been able to find a new home for their dogs and are very upset to have to give them up. They've had Charlie for four years-- they adopted him from a shelter when he was in bad shape and nursed him back to good health. We took in Charlie Horse and their other dog, Aela who is a little 2 year old Terrier mix. The two get along well together, but they also get along with all other dogs. Their previous family did not feel that they would need to be adopted together to be happy. Charlie Horse has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms.

> Our goal is to send you home with a healthy pet and any information and support you may need to help your new pet adjust to his or her new home. All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge. You will also receive a leash, collar, 5 lbs of Science Diet, toys, and educational materials. And we'll give your dog a bath before he or she goes home!

> Please note that we prefer and may require a fenced yard for many of our dogs. Exceptions are made on an individual basis depending on the dog's needs, the person's dog experience, the dog's and person's activity levels, home environment and other factors.

An application is required to adopt a pet and applicants must meet our adoption requirements. If you decide you'd like to adopt one of our pets, we reserve the pet for you but we generally don't send the pet home with you that same day.
