Addie Spaniel & Shetland Sheepdog / Sheltie Mix Memphis, TN

We pulled Addie from the Memphis Animal Shelter after seeing her standing in soaking wet newspaper in a small kennel. Apparently no one could get that close to her kennel without her growling. Im not sure what kind of life this dog had prior to being in the shelter but she was very uncertain about people. Luckily, once sprung, she immediately responded to being handled and loved on. She was initially resistant to every dog in her foster home but is now playing well with many of them. She walks well on leash and is crate trained. Addie is one to two years old and weighs about 12 lbs. She is a lovely dog who will need someone who can go slow with her, not expect her to greet new people constantly but have a fairly quiet life style. She loves to play outside and uses her doggie door. She is often found snuggling on a dog bed with other foster dogs. If you have experience with rescued pets who have a slightly leary nature when meeting new people, you might be a good candidate for this pet Adoption fee is $150.

If you are unable to adopt at this time, you may sponsor the care of this pet. We adopt dogs from Memphis Animal Shelter when we can. The shelter has an 83% euthanasia rate, one of the highest in the country. Unfortunately, any dog coming from Memphis Animal Shelter, and most other shelters for that matter, will have been in contact with contagious illness. Even though the dogs have been in foster care and appear to be in good health, they may become stressed when changing environments and exhibit signs and symptoms of illness. If you have other pets, they need to be up to date on vaccines before bringing a shelter dog into your home. We will take the adopted animal back, but we are not responsible for your other animal's vet care. We always disclose where the dogs have come from. Please ask for any information about the dogs and exercise due caution if you have immunocompromised animals.
