Moses Bichon Frise Mix Memphis, TN

Moses found himself at Memphis Animal Services as the result of a cruelty investigation against his owner, who had kept him tethered outside on a two foot long rope for his entire two years of life. He was ignored and remained outside exclusively. Badly matted, his hair has been cut short in a 'puppy cut' but is silky and soft. He has apricot ears and an apricot spot on his back. This handsome little guy has major curb appeal as you can see.

Fast forward to the Good Samaritan who learned of his plight, sprung him from MAS and asked Real Good Dog Rescue to assist in securing his furever home. Moses will never forget Miss Reagan who advocated so strongly on his behalf.

Moses is discovering his inner puppy now that he's getting appropriate human attention and the interaction of lots of really fun furry playmates in his foster home. The plan is to treat Moses as if he were 6 months old and starting with the basics, such as house training, leash walking--all the proper behaviors that young companion dogs should know. In the short time he's been in rescue, he has learned to sit on command. He's working hard on his house training skills and his leash walking. As I write this bio, he is napping at my feet--tuckered out from his first adoption event and several hours of chase in the back yard. His new BFF (best furry friend) is none other than Bacall, the gorgeous red ticked Australian Cattle Dog. He also loves Cowden.

Moses is great with other dogs. He politely asked all in his foster home to join in play and did not pester anyone who did not want to join in the fun. Moses will be crate trained in addition to the other new skills he will learn. Oh, and by the way, he had just met his foster siblings...so his social skills, despite prior bad treatment, are quite good. That is classic for a Bichon, known for their friendly, cheerful demeanor. Moses is up to date on his vaccinations, microchipped, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventives for fleas and heartworm.

Moses best home will be one that will cherish and love him as a family member. Never again can he know the anguish of being ignored as a yard dog. A solid history of excellent vet care for current or previous pets is required. Preference will be given to applicants who have specific breed experience and who have the dog handling skills to ensure Moses reaches his full potential as an excellent companion animal that we believe he can become.

Moses's adoption fee is $150.

We adopt dogs from Memphis Animal Shelter when we can. The shelter has an 83% euthanasia rate, one of the highest in the country. Unfortunately, any dog coming from Memphis Animal Shelter, and most other shelters for that matter, will have been in contact with contagious illness. Even though the dogs have been in foster care and appear to be in good health, they may become stressed when changing environments and exhibit signs and symptoms of illness. If you have other pets, they need to be up to date on vaccines before bringing a shelter dog into your home. We will take the adopted animal back, but we are not responsible for your other animal's vet care. We always disclose where the dogs have come from. Please ask for any information about the dogs and exercise due caution if you have immunocompromised animals.
