Meet Bacall

Bacall
Australian Cattle Dog
female, adult, medium, spayed

Bacall found herself behind bars at Memphis Animal Services, where her red ticked good looks caught the eye of Director Lisa. After testing heartworm positive, we knew she had limited adoption options, so the decision was made to take her into Real Good Dog Rescue.

Bacall, so named because she has movie star good looks reminiscent of movie legend Lauren Bacall, readily loaded into her foster mom's SUV for the ride home on a rainy Tuesday. She met every other dog, great and small, in her foster home with a wag and a quick sniff. Once she figured out she was at a house again, Bacall visibly relaxed and made herself at home. Crawling up in her foster mom's lap was the clown trick of the evening.

Bacall is house trained and has free run of her foster home. She stands about 20 inches tall, weighs about 35 lbs., and has the most beautiful red ticked coat ever. She has the broad full tail that is the AKC standard for Australian Cattle Dogs. Obviously, her lineage is not the 'stumpy' ACD that has naturally docked tails.

Bacall is calm and loving. She loves her human and is very good with other dogs.

Bacall is up to date on her vaccines and ready for her forever home.

Bacall's best home will have a secure fenced yard. A solid history of excellent vet care for current/previous pets is required. Children over 8 years and another companion dog will be great. But Bacall could happily be an only dog. She just wants a family who will cherish her as a member of their pack. Preference will be given to applicants with specific breed experience. Bacall's adoption fee is $200.

AN ADOPTION FEE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS PET.If you are interested in adopting, have a look at our adoption website, read the online adoption agreement, complete the online adoption application, and submit it. We adopt dogs from Memphis Animal Shelter when we can. The shelter has an 83% euthanasia rate, one of the highest in the country. Unfortunately, any dog coming from Memphis Animal Shelter, and most other shelters for that matter, will have been in contact with contagious illness. Even though the dogs have been in foster care and appear to be in good health, they may become stressed when changing environments and exhibit signs and symptoms of illness. If you have other pets, they need to be up to date on vaccines before bringing a shelter dog into your home. We will take the adopted animal back, but we are not responsible for your other animal's vet care. We always disclose where the dogs have come from. Please ask for any information about the dogs and exercise due caution if you have immunocompromised animals.
