Meet Andre

Good With Kids: I like kids, but at my age, I don’t really want to live with young kids
Good With Other Dogs: Yes
Good With Cats: Unknown
Housetrained: Yes
Crate Trained: Yes
Walks Nicely On A Leash: I love my walks so much that I pull some.
Knows Basic Commands: Some
Energy Level (Couch Potato, Moderate or High): Moderate
Special Needs: André’s hearing and eyesight are not 100% anymore, but he can see and hear.

ARRIVAL STORY: My previous owner was ill and living in a house that was too crowed and had big dogs that didn’t want me there. I was going to be surrendered to a shelter but luck intervened and I got an awesome foster home instead.

APPROXIMATE AGE / WEIGHT: 13 years old / 14 lbs.

PERSONALITY: I love to lie around close to my person, snuggle and watch TV. I really get attached to my people. When it’s time for a walk, I’m ready to go and I can walk pretty far for an old guy! I’m just learning my name, and that’s a little hard because my hearing isn’t 100% anymore. It is never too old to teach an old dog new tricks, right? I sit up to show I want food or attention so I can communicate. I look forward to learning new things with my new people! I am house trained and crate trained. I might bark a little when put in my crate but I settle down in a few minutes. I am not crated at night.

My hip got dislocated recently probably from jumping off the furniture. I am a little guy so it is probably best if you crate me while you are away so I do not sneak up on a couch or bed and jump off.

FOREVER HOME: I’d like a quieter home. I would love to have a person to snuggle with. It’s ok if there is another dog that just wants to hang out, and maybe even a cat or two, but little kids will just be too much activity for me.

CONTACT: Please contact godsdog@umich.edu if you’re interested in adopting Andre!

Pre-Adoption Application: To be considered for a dog, it is best to submit a pre-adoption application. The Pre-Adoption Application can be downloaded from our website - http://www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoptionprocess.html. Just complete the application and email it back to wtdr2008@yahoo.com
Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $225 for adult dogs. Different adoption fees apply for older dogs, small breeds and puppies - $125 for senior dogs, $275 for small breed dogs and $250 for puppies, plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.
We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. To meet a dog in person, please see our event calendar for the latest information. Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).
Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.
Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!
