Meet Happy

Sweet! Loving! Mature!

Her name says it all, Happy! Happy is an estimated 4 year old red heeler aka Australian Cattle dog weighing around 35-40 pound range. She has the best outlook on life even though her past could be what we call haunting. She gets along with all dogs of all ages and sizes, loves humans, and kids too. Happy is house trained and crate trained. She would love to ride around with you all day in the truck and then just come home and relax with you. She just loves to ride and will sit nicely in her seat wherever she goes looking out the window. She currently is being fostered in a house with a cat but thankfully for the cat happy will leave the cat alone if she can’t get to her. Happy wants to play and possible chase the cat but the cat is smart enough to get higher then happy can reach. Happy loves a cozy bed or the couch to lay on at night and a bone to chew here and there. She would be an excellent one owner dog or family dog. She is vaccinated, healthy, spayed and waiting for forever.

Happy’s road to recovery:
We rescued Happy from an abusive situation where she was left outside and never an inside dog. Her owners at the time had not spayed her so she had multiple litters in her short life. She had so many litters that when we went to spay her the vet said her uterus just feel to pieces. A couple reached out to us knowing Happy needed a better place to be. They had witnessed her protecting her babies from a stray dog and that owner kicking her so hard it broke her leg. When we received happy she had 6 puppies, butterfly broken leg, and high heart worm positive. We took her in immediately for surgery on her leg and there was a temporary rod placed in her left rear leg. Her puppies were old enough to be weaned and they went into recovery as well and were all adopted out within the next two months. Happy had the rod taken out after a recovery period of 6 weeks and then it was tine to learn to use it again. After regaining muscle and walking again it was time to spay her. Her recovery from being spayed took a little longer given the condition she was in. Her foster mom had to nurse her to healthy weight and all over diet to get her to the beautiful dog she is. Given she was high heartworm positive we kept her on a slow kill method during these surgeries so it could not get worse. Happy has now successfully completed her heartworm treatment and retested negative in February!! YAY!! She will come with her current prescription of Heartguard plus at time of adoption.

Happy hasn't had life too easy but we have made it this far and not giving up. Happy is not special needs but need a special home to call her own.
