Meet Maynard

Take a look at this sweet face. This face was to be head down in a landfill. Maynard was turned into a dog pound at age 13. Yes, age 13. His family moved and didn't want him. He was given to a family member who also eventually didn't want Maynard. The answer to that was to turn Maynard into a dog pound---and not just left there -- they asked him to be euthanized. Maynard was never really truly cared for like a dog should be we don't believe, and we're not sure he ever had vet care. He was to be killed just for ending up in the wrong situation.

When we found out about Maynard, volunteers tried to move heaven and earth to make sure this boy didn't spend his remaining time (years--who knows) not ever knowing true love. Policy was at this pound that when a dog was turned in to be euthanized, this was to be set in motion. However the wonderful people at this pound made policy changing procedures to help Maynard and who knows how many thousands of dogs in the future. Thank you, thank you! Very special volunteers all over made the rescue of Maynard possible.

Now, take a look at this face! Instead of being dead and thrown into a pile of junk, he has a bath and is enjoying a ball. We are looking for a special family who will take Maynard in and give him a loving, permanent home. Not just any home, but a family who will show him what it is like to be a dog who is loved and part of a family. You know who I'm talking to out there and we hope you'll come through and take this baby under your wing and just love the heck out of him.

His temporary foster home has been treating Maynard with open, loving arms. He goes outside to potty and has only had one accident. While outside, he wags his tail and happily carries a ball around in his mouth. Maynard likes to watch the resident dog play ball with foster mom. She says it is almost like he is living vicariously through him. In fact there are two dogs in the home and Maynard gets along with them both very well. We have come to find out that Maynard has a dislocated hip. We didn't think he was in pain after a talk with an ortho vet, however since have found out that he must have been in some pain. However through this, Maynard showed no signs of pain, he walks great on a lead, is crate trained and he just loves his nice new people. He constantly makes his foster mom just smile!

Maynard had surgery to fix his hip, was neutered and had his teeth cleaned on August 8th.  He is now resting comfortably in his brand new bed. We thank everyone who donated to help pay for this surgery. We still have so way to go, so if you can donate any amount of money we would appreciate it.

There is a special link set up on our website on his private page. Please see our website at www.gr-rescue.org . If you are interested in adopting Maynard once he has recuperated, please read on...
