Meet Dixie Chicks: Emily

This dog will be at adoptions on Saturday, July 27th from 1-4:30 & Sunday, July 28th, 11:30-4:30pm at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express or until adopted. If you are interested and would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application.

We received a call from a groomer that one of their clients had a litter of puppies they were trying to find a home for and asked if we would be interested. They are 4 1/2 months old. Mom was a Shih Tzu-Poodle mix and well, Dad was unknown. And that's pretty obvious when you see Natalie. She pretty much looks like, well, someone stuck a stray pup in the litter...Two of the pups Emily and Marti both have similar type of coat which is a soft wire coat with a touch of 'I stuck my paw in a light socket' look. Natalie? She has what we call, 'an easy breezy' type of coat maintenance.

The litter is currently living in a foster home with dogs (both big and small dogs), cats and kids.

Emily is the most outgoing of the group. She usually charges to door to greet everyone. If she's in her puppy room, well, she's right there waiting when you get there...she is the first to master the doggy door. She is the first to demand attenion with Mom or Dad at her foster home. Get ready! Here comes Emily.

Marti: She's the shyer of the bunch. But she does gain confidence when she is around other confident dogs or with confident people. It's probably not a lifetime trait as we have seen her adjust very quickly. But initially her family should plan to be devoted to this little one and introducing her to all new things! She is a great option for an adult home just because she's a bit more tenative.

Natalie: Let's address the elephant in the room. Yes, she is part of the litter. No she doesn't look like her sisters but they are sisters! She has the cutest little Corgi body and she is an absolute lover girl. She can't get enough of being held. She will sit in the little girl's lap that they live with, for hours. She is perfectly content. If there are kids in the home, they have to be gentle, well behaved and have to like a puppy on their lap!
