Meet Barney

Are you wondering how I got my name? Well, I am named after Fred Flintstone's friend Barney, and not the silly purple dinosaur. You may also notice from my pictures and video that I have a little Elvis Presley "lip curl" on my left side. That's because when I was rescued, my upper large tooth was broken at the gum line (ouch!) but the nice people at Broken Tail Rescue took care of that. But now and then, my lip still gets stuck.

I had a home once, but like so many other cats living outside, I lost my home when my people moved and left me behind. A nice lady was feeding a bunch of us and we were all eventually rescued. Can I tell you something? I don't want to go outside ever again. I really enjoy sitting on my nice, warm fleece throw on the sofa and looking out the windows at birds and people. My foster mom says she is glad that I am not cold and alone any more, but during my cat naps I dream of what it would be like to have my own family to love.

I admit that I am an older adult , but at 8 years old I'm not exactly ready for my AARP card just yet. I can only eat canned food because dry food upsets my stomach, but I do okay with a few treats during the day. I really need a guardian angel who can see past all that and make me their one and only cat. I promise to welcome you home by rubbing up against your pant legs and letting you pat me. I enjoy playing with my toys, especially my special catnip bag, but I'm not exactly a wild party animal. I'm kind of a low-key guy who is just happy to be with his people. Like Elvis would say, "thank you very much" for reading about me. My story has a sad beginning, but you can write that happy ending by adopting me.

Barney has tested positive for FIV, but it definitely isn't transferable to people, and is not easily transmitted to other cats. Cats with FIV can live normal lives as long as they are kept indoors. Barney has tested negative for feline leukemia, is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and has received a monthly flea preventative.

Barney is being fostered in Boston. If you are interested in finding out more about Barney, please fill out an application on our website - copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.brokentailrescue.org/adoption-application/
