Meet Abby -- ADOPTED!!
Abby is a German Shepherd mix, that arrived at our shelter on 5/3/13, near death due to starvation and dehydration.Â
Abby has beaten the odds - the odds of living after starvation, the odds of actually being rescued before death, the odds of being 100% recovered & healthy, and the odds of loving people - again. Abby came to us a dangerous 35 lbs.. 5/3 was possibly going to be her last day on earth - in shock and shutting down. But the right people were in just the right place at the right time, and with lots of food & water, she slowly gained her strength & weight (she's about 65 lbs. now), and is she ready for fun & games! Abby is a German Shepherd mix, who is believed to be born 5/7/11. She is so happy & friendly with everyone - her tail is always wagging! She is very strong - so, leash walking has been made easy with her "Easy Walk Harness".   Abby is happy & quiet - she never barks! She loves the freedom of a fenced yard - she will require that for her safety.  She adores people and is respectful of their needs. Abby does like to "cat chase" - this could also apply to rabbits in the yard - just the same, she has clearly chased a cat or two in her life, and could possibly be faster than them.  She loves to play with toys, prancing around the yard,  eating, and being close to - and meaningful to, people. Although Abby came to us with another dog, she is quite bossy with other canines - so, a home where she would be the star, albeit only pet, would be her best home.  She is definitely crate trained, and should be house trained - she is very respectful of her surroundings, too.  Her $150. Adoption Fee includes our very comprehensive veterinary package (she has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed, tested negative for heartworms & is current on heartworm & flea/tick preventative), plus lots of love & attention from our volunteers until she finds her true Forever Home.Â
