Meet Starlit

Starlit and her 3 siblings came to us, along with their mom Abby, from a situation that was not good for them.  A concerned citizen notified us of their situation and luckily a foster home stepped forward to help.  This wonderful foster home kept Abby and her pups until the pups were weaned, and now they have been spread out into various foster homes in our program.  The pups' mom, Abby, has entered the home of the kind person who discovered their situation, in the hopes that she will fit in and be adopted!

The pups' mom is a purebred Australian Cattle Dog (aka Blue Heeler) and the father is unknown.  The pups are currently 9 weeks old (born approximately March 10, 2013).

From Starlit's foster mom: Starlit is like a little rocket zooming around the house. Her preferred speed is a full gallop. She is going to have a high energy level and need a lot of exercise.

She is timid in new situations.  She will need work socializing with unfamiliar people, unfamiliar dogs, and unfamiliar places to build her confidence in new situations, as well as patient training.

She likes toys and enjoys chasing them. She is an avid chewer and has tested every accessible object and surface within reach before being interrupted and directed to one of the many toys and chewies on the floor.

In the beginning, she would basically panic and carry on while crated in the car. She is gradually acclimating to it. She is still anxious in the car and cries when it's moving, though she has been taken almost daily for outings. We are continuing work on that to get her more and more comfortable with car travel.

She is sweet and likes to come up for petting and cuddles.

Starlit is going to need more work than an average puppy to bring out the best in her and to build her confidence when facing the unfamiliar.  She would benefit from puppy socialization classes.

Starlit is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed rescue. Her adoption donation is $375. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and heartworm tested as part of their adoption. Please fill out an application at our website:
