Meet Piglet

Piglet is a Pit bull mix who came into ARP with a severe case of demodex. She was found in a local shelter bleeding, her skin was inflamed, she was suffering from allergies, had an upper respiratory infection and a urinary tract infection (see her before in photo #3). Piglet has been on antibiotics and has been getting biweekly treatments since December 2012. She is finally all clear from her demodex and her infections and is now ready to find her forever home.

Piglet was born in approximately in August 2012. She is all white except for a couple of brown spots on her ears and by her eyes. Piglet is completely potty and crate trained. She walks great on a leash. Piglet still has lots of puppy energy and loves to play with any toy or any dog. She will retrieve a toy over and over and over. She is living in a foster home with other dogs, a cat, and older children. She does well with the dogs and cat and would love a friendly, sweet brother to call her own. Piglet can be left free or crated; her foster family does both just to keep her skills up. Like any pup, a basic obedience class would be a great experience for her and her new owners. (The class is a great bonding experience and teaches us how to communicate with your pup).

Piglet is a great dog and is sure to bring years of joy to your life, so please ask about her today!

****Her adoption fee is $325.****

The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues—and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed.

All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws.

Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $25 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.

The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
