Meet Trip

Name: Trip

Age: 10 years

Breed: Beagle/Pug mix (Puggle)

How I Arrived At NHS: I was surrendered by my owner because they developed severe allergies to me.

Note From An NHS Volunteer: Trip is a sweet, mellow boy who knows basic commands ("sit" "lay down" "shake").  He is also well behaved.  He does not jump up and takes treats nicely.  He would do best in an adult only.

Day “trip!”

When Trip woke up on Saturday morning, he thought that it was just an ordinary day at the shelter.  Little did he know that he would soon be on a weekend getaway!  Trip came home with me for a little field trip this weekend, and he was such a joy!

Car rides aren’t his favorite, so I recommend crating him in the car, but once we got home, he sniffed around the yard a bit, then met the resident dogs-one much smaller than him and the other a tad bigger.  Trip did wonderfully but declined the big dog’s invitation to play and was more interested sniffing around the house and checking things out.  He came across the cat and literally walked straight past him and didn’t glance twice.  J I spent the day doing some yard work and Trip spent it in the backyard, tossing pinecones into the air and laying in the grass.  He was a little bit vocal when I got out of sight, but it was only a little whining, not barking.  He was a perfect gentleman in the house and is housetrained.  He does like food and a couple of times I had to remind him not to put his feet on the counter, but other than that, he was a good boy!  He cuddled with me on the couch on Saturday night, then slept on my feet at the end of the bed overnight.  I didn’t sleep much because of the extra 30 pounds on my feet, but I think he slept better than he has in a long time.  Trip would make a wonderful addition to a quieter home where he can relax and lay by his human.  He does well with other dogs and completely ignores cats.  He is treat-motivated and knows how to “sit” and “stay,” along with some other basic commands.

Good With Kids: No thanks, they are a little too much for me. I'll take adults only please.

Good With Cats: Yes, I lived with one, and although the cat didn't care for me I had no problems with the cat.

Good With Dogs: Yes

All the dogs at Northwoods Humane Society have had a basic exam by a tech. They have been tested for Heartworm (if over 6 months of age), had at least their first distemper combo vaccination (2nd if here longer), dewormed with a general dewormer, and had a flea and tick treatment applied if applicable. All the dogs will be spayed or neutered before they are adopted to their new permanent homes. Dog adoption fees range from $95 to $450 + tax; Puppy adoption fees range from $200 to $450 + tax. Please check our web site at www.northwoodshs.org for more information.
