This gorgeous, regal looking young lady is Duchess.  She is the biggest cuddle bug you will ever meet!  Duchess loves people and being the center of attention.  With such a remarkable personality and such a striking look she will certainly make someone a wonderful companion.

Once upon a time, Duchess grew up in a home with a family and thought it was forever.  Unfortunately, one day she jumped in the car to go for a ride and her life changed drastically.  You see, she was brought to a kill shelter because the family was moving and they didn't want to take her. The pick up truck drove up with her chained in the back. They quickly dumped her off without so much as a hug and kiss.  She barked and looked longingly at her family as they drove away.

Luckily on that fateful day, a DDR volunteer intercepted before she actually stepped foot into the shelter.

This sweet lil' girl is now in a foster home in CT.  Despite all that has happened to her she begins each day with a tail wag and a kiss for her humans.  You see it isn't in her nature to be anything but loyal and loving.  She is 100% housebroken and is currently living peacefully with two cats and two dogs.  It took her a while to find her place in the pack of dogs but she now cuddles up with them each night.

Duchess loves to play with her toys. As a matter of fact she is a bit of a collector. She loves to stockpile all the other dog toys in the house and make one big pile! She is a low to medium energy dog but she is a strong girl and will need to continue to work on some manners. Due to her big size Duchess likes to be the alpha dog, so she may have difficulty with other alpha dogs. While she doesn't demonstrate dominating traits, she will stand up for herself. Overall, Duchess wants to find her family so she can live happily ever after and not have her life disrupted ever again.

If you would like to be considered for adopting Duchess, please contact Chelsea at ddrchelsea@gmail.com to get the process started.  This gorgeous creature deserves another chance!

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination
All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming
Spay/Neuter
All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.
If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)
NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
