Here is her story:-) This is Mariah a new mum to five beautiful kittens. Her foster says she is a candidate for worlds best mom. This lovely calico has eyes that will make you melt. She has given so much to her kittens that only now, after 6 weeks of being a mom, we are beginning to see her playful side - and what a fun side it is! She radiates love and will do just about anything for a pat on the head and a spot beside you on the couch. This girl is sure to win over any family member or new guests to the house.


This is Mariah's story:-) Mariah was a friendly homeless cat wandering about a small farming village in eastern Ontario in the winter of 2012-2013. She was probably born in the spring of 2012 because it was clearly her first winter outdoors. She had not found a place to take shelter from the cold and was desperate to come inside, so it was obvious she once had a home and was not feral.

 

Many people had known about Mariah since the summer months but did not feed her, for fear she would stay. On one particularly cold night in the dead of winter she darted into a house and the occupant did not have the heart to turn her back outside. He fed her dog food and kept her in his basement with the intention of putting her back out in the spring.

 

On March 19, 2013, at 2 a.m. Mariah gave birth to five kittens in a box in the basement. The next day the home owner noticed a Cat Rescue Network poster and quickly made a call. Luckily a foster home was available and Mariah and her five kittens are now in a room with a big window, lots of toys, many beds to choose from and good quality cat food and kitten milk to help her nurse her wee kittens. Clearly fate had intervened on behalf of this little mother.

 

Mariah and her kittens are available for adoption at any time, but they will remain in the foster home until the kittens are 12 weeks old.
