Adorable Sundance! Golden Retriever & Border Collie Mix Boulder, CO

Sundance is a one year old SWEET boy who is housetrained, loves walking and incredibly affectionate. He loves being around people and loves men, women and children. He is great with my cats and is still very much a puppy. He LOVES to run - and at first I thought he had decent recall off leash up here in the mountains but then the absolute euphoria of running took over his body and he ran pretty far. So he needs recall work.  He loves to be out in our backyard or sleeping on the deck watching the world go by... but also loves snuggling up inside on the dog bed. Not  a couch dog though. 


     Sundance is playful and sweet. Whoever gets him is getting a gem. He is a true mix of golden/border collie. Intelligence, sweetness, thoughtfulness.  He is currently with our trainer doing basic work and pack work. In two weeks he comes back to me to start his heartworm injections. Sweet Sundance... we love him so much. Special home only for this great dog. 


Sundance  who was running free in a horrible section of Houston that dog rescuers call the "Corridor of Cruelty". I guess its where dogs run free as strays and dog fighters collect them to use as bait dogs. Could people suck any more than that? 


  If a human survived what Sundance did and emerged sweet and loving, we'd call them a hero. So I believe that Sundance is a true dog hero - who deserves love and compassion for the rest of his life to make up for his start. 


Sundance is now in foster in Boulder and doing great. He is sweet, loving, laid back and pretty happy. He was obviously someone's pet. He is heartworm positive, so we are beginning his treatment. He can go to a new home and we will pay for his treatment to continue. 


Sundance is very smart. We believe he is a golden retriever/ border collie mix. He has the loving side of a golden but the intelligence and introspection of a border collie. He rides well in the car, is well mannered in the house (Mostly) and is doing well with my dogs, cats and 11 year old son. That said, he has been through a lot and he'll need someone who is not expecting a turn key dog. He is 15 lbs underweight. Literally he is unpleasant to pet because he is just skin and bones. He prefers human food and trash to dog food ( and we feed premium dog food). I need to mix eggs in with his dry food to entice him. 


    I think we are going to send Sundance to our trainer for an some basic work. He is very smart and eager to please. He has some leash reaction when we see other dogs and needs to learn that he is now safe, and dogs are not going to randomly attack him ever again. 


  He is housetrained, neutered, vaccinated and starting his heartworm treatment.
