Scout will need a family that is experienced with the breed.  Aussies are high energy and very smart dogs.  If their energy is not channeled into a job and lots of exercise, they can become destructive.  Aussies are herding dogs with a high prey drive so homes with small children are generally not a match for this breed.  Also, Aussies have a thick undercoat that will require daily grooming.

Scout's adoption donation is $200 which includes his up to date vaccinations, deworming, microchip, flea and tick prevention.  Also, $75 will be refunded to you upon proof of his neuter prior to May 8th, 2013.

Dog Adoption Guidelines:

You must fill out an application to be considered for adoption. You can fill out an application at www.forthepets.org/adoption.htm or email to humanesociety@murray-ky.net for an application.

It is not a "first come" process; we try to "match" the dog with the family for a FOREVER home. We process all applications at once and take the dog off the site, place on adoption pending status until a decision is made. If a suitable home is not found, the dog returns to active status.

The dog adoption process can take about two weeks; we are a small group of volunteers who have full time jobs.

We do not fly or ship our dogs due to heat/cold concerns and safety issues. If you are willing to fly out AND fly the dog back in the cabin (size restrictions) with you, that would be considered.

If you apply to adopt a dog and are chosen, you must come to Murray, KY to pick up the dog and fill out the paperwork in person.

We do adopt out-of-state, but we do not transport.

We can't provide individual "meet and greet" sessions for each applicant. If chosen to adopt, you will have time to visit with the dog before signing any paperwork and will not be committed to adopt if you choose not to at that time.
