Meet Champ
Champ is so deserving of a home. He is extremely affectionate – obedient – bright – patient and, a word used frequently by ALL…."gentle." He knows basic obedience commands. Don't let his severely cropped ears mislead you. He is GENTLE, GENTLE, GENTLE and wants nothing more than to be a companion.
AKC description of the American Staffordshire Terriers is: Courageous and strong, the American Staffordshire Terrier (Am Staff)'s athletic build and intelligence make him ideally suited to many dog sports such as obedience, agility, tracking and conformation. It is thought that the cross of this older Bulldog and a game terrier breed created the Staffordshire Terrier It was suggested by two trainers, because of his intelligence, obedience and desire for close “people” companionship, that Champ be evaluated to be a “service dog.” Champ thrives on people companionship. He was surrendered to a large shelter along with a companion female adopted quickly. Champ was left without a companion, without a family,. FOCAS' Angel Fund provided surgery for an anterior cruciate ligament tear and boarding at a veterinary hospital for his recovery and rehab. Veterinarians and staff fell "head over heels" in love with Champ. FOCAS immediately developed an attachment to this “love bug” and decided to take him into its adoption program. Due to a shortage of foster homes, Champ is boarding but goes home on "overnights.” FOCAS volunteers take him for walks and visits to a park. He will do well with a person familiar with the breed and as the only pet in the home. He will be so content with someone to love and remain close to. Call FOCAS at 201-943-4019 to learn more about this terrific dog waiting for his "forever" home.
