***SANDY HAS BEEN ADOPTED AND IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE 4/19/13***Sandy is a lovebug! She is very smart and seems to love every person she meets. If she doesn't think you're giving her enough attention, she will put her head in your lap or offer to 'shake' paws with you! This sweet girl is SO happy to be out of the shelter and is looking for a warm bed and some loving people to call her own. Our vet thinks she is about 4 years old and she weighs 30 lbs. We don't know who her parents were, but our best guess is that she is a Border Collie/Sheltie mix. Sandy is heartworm positive and is currently undergoing treatment via the less invasive 'slow kill' method. We can't believe somebody dropped this great girl at a shelter, but we are ready to send her to a fabulous forever home! When Sandy first meets a new dog, she is assertive/alpha, but after getting to know everybody she seems to fit in well with 'the pack.' She may do better as an only dog or with a more submissive dog. There is a very friendly cat in her foster home, and she usually ignores him. Sandy's future home should be willing to continue to work with her on learning her 'house manners.' We believe she used to live outside, and is still learning all of the house rules.
