Monroe was being cared for by a woman who takes in homeless dogs in rural Virginia. Her owner had to move because of a break-up. Supposedly he was leaving Monroe for a week while he found housing, but then never returned for her.

All of the dogs on this property have to live outside in pens in the heat, rain, and cold. They have no heartworm preventative or flea repellent. Unfortunately, the woman has become overwhelmed by trying to care for too many animals. HT heard of her plight and has rescued some of these dogs.

She is a sweet girl who would just love to have a person or family of her own. Monroe is energetic and active.   Since she has lived outdoors in a rural area, Monroe will need to learn basic house manners and get used to urban life. She already knows Sit and will offer her paw without a command. She would love to find a patient person or family who will give her an indoor home with good food and a soft bed.

The adoption fee for this dog is $275, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee INCLUDES spay/neuter. Our adult animal fees range and are based on: fees we pay to shelters, vetting costs, transport costs, and boarding costs. Some animals cost more than others to rescue, so that is why our fees range from $275-$350.
