Meet Quito

Quito is a beautiful Mealy Amazon. He is 40+ years old. He was wild-caught and confiscated being smuggled into the United States from Mexico. After the quarantine period, Quito spent most of his life at a sanctuary. He was given to an employee, with whom he has lived the last six years. That relationship ended when the family had a baby. Quito was too loud for the baby and not getting enough attention anymore.

Quito's foster Mom would love to keep him permanently, but Quito hates the other large birds in her home. He expresses his displeasure by trying to bite whenever he is asked to step up. He is afraid of a perch and only wants to step up to an arm, wherein lies the problem with his current home. Quito would probably be happier as an only bird or with just small birds in a home.

Quito normally takes longer to bond with women than men (he willingly steps up to any male), but he builds stronger relationships with women. Since Quito is a very large Amazon, he needs someone who has large bird, preferably Amazon, experience. He is a terrific talker and would make a wonderful addition to the right family. He really deserves a great home. He is a terrific bird.
