Meet Gracie

Gracie is a tuxedo female kitty that has a huge heart.    She was abandoned at Animal Control's door and was taken in by the SPCA.  She is such a sweeheart who loves attention and will rub against you and knead you to get it!  She loves cat treats and will take any that you give her!  She is a queen and prefers to be the only cat in the house.  She is currently with a foster, but would love to meet you!  Call the SPCA at (907) 744-1514  and we can arrange a meeting.

A note from her foster family: Gracie has been such a great cat to foster. I've dealt with a lot of cats, and she's one of the most tolerant, laid back cats I've handled. Although she definitely does not like being around other animals (although she's proven to do OK with only one other cat) she's relatively easy to bathe and doesn't throw a fit when I clip her nails. For the most part, she keeps to herself and sleeps in a couple of different places around the house.

Occasionally she likes to sit in my lap and show affection, but she generally just likes to be in the same room with me. When I'm busy at the computer but she wants to sit in my lap, I redirect her to a blanket next to me on the desk and she seems to find that sufficient. I don't know if I've trained her out of it or if she just uses her scratching post often enough, but I haven't had a problem with her kneading excessively when she's in my lap. I don't think she's ever deliberately scratched me. She's picky with food, but only because she will only touch the dry food. I've tried giving her wet food or pieces of scrap meat, but she turns away from it. She never begs in the kitchen. I can tell she gets lonely when I'm gone for more than a few days, because she can be clingy for a day or two after I get home. Of course, I have friends drop in to check on her, but I think she'd be best for someone who has a local job and can come home every night. She usually sleeps at the foot of the bed at night, although she'll probably look for attention before settling down for the night. I really hate that I can't just outright adopt her, but I fostered rather than adopted because I knew my job could be turbulent. Sure enough, I'll be gone so much in the next few months that I don't think Gracie would be happy with so many changes. I'd love to find a long-term stable home for her!
