6/19/13 - I'VE BEEN ADOPTED!
6/18/13 - Lola had a referral to see the doggy Ophthalmologist today.  We needed to see if her tear production had increased any since the regular vet had started her on the Optimmune.  She also performed a more thorough exam and testing to see if there were more going on then just dry eye and if so, would she be a candidate for surgery to improve her eyesight.

Seems her tear production did increase in both eyes (the right eye being better) since the start of the Optimmune, which was good.  Her intraocular pressures where normal in both eyes.  There was no evidence of corneal ulceration in either eye or glaucoma.  Seems that Ms. Lola just has KCS (Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca - inflammation of the cornea and conjuntiva due to dryness.  The surface of the eye becomes dry due to a lack of quality tears)

The discharge instructions are to keep giving the Optimmune ointment (vet prescribed) twice daily, and she added Genteal Gel Severe Form (artificial tear gel) (can be bought over the counter) to be given twice daily as well.  This will substitute the rewetting drops that we were giving since this gel liquefies in the eye to form a protective film and is longer lasting than human rewetting drops.

These two items will be a lifetime regimen for Lola and necessary for her comfort.  The Genteal runs approximately $12 from a local pharmacy and the Optimmune comes from the vet (but could be ordered online with a vet prescription for less) runs approximately $30.

Just her foster mom's opinion, but this is a small monthly price to pay for such a big daily prize in return.

12/28/12 - I’m so depressed!  I just lost my long time job and the only thing I knew how to do – my job title was “Executive Puppy Maker”.  My boss said my work product was getting low.  Well, my work conditions weren’t all that great.  I received no pay, my boss was a meanie and my office was a pig sty.  Once they were done with me, they left me to fend for myself until animal control saved me.  Wait a minute!  Come to think of it, I’m not so depressed.  I’m in retirement!  Yeah!

Since I did not receive any medical treatment at that hell hole, I had a few medical issues that needed to be addressed.  I suffer from dry eye and since I did not receive drops in my earlier years, a little scar tissue has built up on my eyes that limits my vision.  I can see, and will follow my humans closely, but don’t have 20/20 vision as I used to.  To that end, I get some eye ointment in my eyes daily that helps my eyes produce tears.  Also, I had one mammory tumor the size of an egg yolk and several other little ones.  The larger one was taken off and biopsied and it was cancerous and was found to be malignant, so the dogtor took out the last 3 mammary glands on both sides.

I had my teeth cleaned, and I also had 2 small inquinal hernias that were repaired at the time of my dental, spay and mastectomy.  The good news is that my blood work looked GREAT and I am heartworm negative.  The vet said that I was the best patient ever.  I would wag my tail every time she would talk to me (which is pretty much what I do all the time when being talked to).

I am a sweetheart of a little girl.  I simply adore my people and aim to stay very close to them.  When you sit, I want to be picked up and put in your lap, and at bedtime, I will snuggle in a ball right by your head.  I just cannot get enough attention and kisses and foster mom and dad say that there isn’t a sweeter yorkie out there to be found.  I love to go places with my humans and will just sit in my bag while you shop, eat or whatever else we are doing that day.

Well, now that I have had all my medical issues fixed, I am ready to join my new home.  My new home should include a mom and/or dad that isn't gone alot, someone that loves to hold me and carry me around and talk to me all the time, other pups are cats will be fine, no children since I am so small and plenty of fluffy beds to nap in during the day.

Are you retired too and need someone to join you?
