About 3 years old and 45 lbs, Ruger has made significant social progress at the shelter, regaining his self-confidence and his health following treatment for heartworm. He looks like a Chocolate Lab but may have some Pointer in him. He is sweet and good on a leash. He would make someone a terrific companion. He does, however, need to have an owner who will take it slow and give him time to become comfortable in his new environment.  He is an insecure dog to start and will react negatively if he is feels threatened.  He also would not do well with small children.  He is worth giving a chance because he is a very loving dog to everyone at the shelter.  This dog is available for adoption from Oceana County Animal Control.
