LOCATED IN CALHOUN, GEORGIA

MEET CHESTER! A debonair and dapper older doodle fellow (we think he is a Labradoodle and anywhere from 6-8 years old.) Chester is ready for a place to hang his top hat and "tails" and for a loving family of his very own. He is currently 70 lbs. but will be closer to 80 lbs once he has gained some much needed weight. He has a soft mixed fleece, light to non-shedding coat that will require grooming every 6-8 weeks.

Poor Chester was on his own roaming the streets of Calhoun when he miraculously ended up being rescued by a compassionate dog lover and his family. Seeing this emaciated, starved, matted, filthy, stinky yet sweet, good natured and BEAUTIFUL boy laying on the side of the road unable to move, they immediately stopped, put him in the car and took him to the vet expecting he would have to be put down. They gave him a name and started looking for his family. Two whole months later, Chester's family has never been found nor have they come forward. Surrendering him to a shelter was NEVER an option…So the family reached out to DRC for assistance.

Chester's foster Dad and savior explains: " I found him on the road about 2 months ago. He was skin and bones, matted up,filthy, stinky, starving and couldn't walk. I threw him in my car and took him to my vet expecting that he had been hit by a car and would need to be put to sleep. The vet examined him, told me he was a Labradoodle, cleaned him up and gave us the news that poor Chester was just suffering from malnutrition, dehydration and parasites. We treated him, shaved him down, bathed him and took him home. We wanted to give him a good place to live until his family could be located or until we could place him with a wonderful family ourselves. Well his owners name came forward and placing him into a great home without assistance was much harder than we expected."

" Chester has turned out to be a fantastic dog. He is very gentle, easy going friendly and really loves all people. He's very loving and loves attention. He is an older dog, but you would never know it as he acts like a puppy dancing around when I get home. He is house-trained and does understand commands so someone must have worked with him. He is great with people. I have 7 year old twins and he is gentle as a lamb with them. He will knock them over sometimes because he gets so happy but it's accidental. He gets along great with my dogs, is always happy and wagging his tail. He just really hates cats and I have quite a few here that he his constantly chasing. So he really needs a home without cats. We know now that he's basically healthy asa horse and I would keep him in a heartbeat myself if I didn't have my cats. He's really going to be an incredible dog for some lucky family."

Chester would be a fantastic companion for active seniors, retirees and empty nesters. He would do well as an only dog or with another well-mannered, easy going dog or dogs" for company. he will chase cats. So no kitties for Chester! He is neutered and UTD on all vaccines and preventatives. Chester will be a wonderful addition to the right family.
