Meet East Ranger Turner Turner

Hi ya, it’s great that you’re checking out my page! I’m East Ranger and it’s great to meet you. I’m looking for a new family to call my own! Could it be you?

Here’s my stats:
Possible Breed: Shih Tzu

Gender: I’m a male, guy, hombre

Colors: White with gold brown patches

Age: 7 years old

Weight: 17 pounds

Ideal Home: Maybe one with teenagers but probably not little kids. I would probably be best if I also lived with peoples who were experienced dog owners.

My foster mom says, "He’s an absolute lover!! He follows me EVERYWHERE. He has chosen me as the one to be loyal to. He does not leave my side. He gets possessive of me at times with my husband trying to kiss me goodbye so I spray him with a little water, saying “No, East!” to him. It is very important because he listens to me. He LOVES my husband, he cuddles him all the time. I think it is just his protective nature.

He will go to his crate if I tell him to. He doesn't have any food aggression. He waits in line just like the rest of them until his turn. He is good with other dogs. In fact, my alpha female snipped at him once and he did not engage but, instead, ran away. He is good with teenagers. He definitely needs a strong hand to keep him on track. He barks when he has to go outside. He’s great on a leash. He knows his name.

I guess, to sum it all up I would say that he is a gentle and protective soul who needs a strong and consistent discipline to correct his protective behavior. It is not aggressive – he sees himself as the protector of his person. We adore him!. Training him is worth watching him change so he is ready for his forever home."

To talk more about adopting East, please email his foster family at carey@martini.vc. To start the process of adopting me or one of the other pups by filling out the application found at www.shihtzu-rescue.com.

PS. I've had ALL my vetting, and oh boy, it was a lot. Here's what I had done:
Distemper/Parvo shots – TWICE. One shot doesn't cut it.
Bordetella shots - ALSO TWICE.
Spay/Neuter-of course.
A fecal exam so I don't have any bad worms. Treatment if I do.
A heartworm test. Treatment if I am positive for heart worms
BLOODWORK to make sure my liver and kidneys are working well, because you know, we doggies often have issues in the liver and kidneys.
A DENTAL exam AND cleaning if I needed it- yep, all my toofies are checked out.
See, that's a LOT. Ask your vet - that's a LOT.
