Meet Zenni ADOPTED
NOTE: Â OUR ADORABLE ZENNI HAS FOUND HER FOREVER HOME WHERE SHE WILL CONTINUE TO HEAL AND GROW. Â THANK YOU SUSANNA FOR GIVING THIS PRECIOUS LITTLE SOUL A NEW LIFE SO FAR AWAY FROM THE PUPPY MILL SHE CAME FROM. Â WITH YOU SHE WILL LEARN TO TRUST COMPLETELY AND BECOME YOUR TREASURED COMPANION.
Zenni is an adorable long hair Chihuahua that came from a puppy mill bust in Shelby Ohio.  There were over 280 Chihuahuas in a 900 square feet building.  They lived in tiny metal bottomed wire cages. Zenni came into Star-Mar Rescue with 15 other Chihuahuas.  Eleven of the dogs went onto other rescues but Zenni was one of the ones that stayed with us. Â
Zenni is adorable and very bonded in her foster home. Â She is still a bit shy with people she doesn't know but warms up quickly. Â She loves to be held! Â She is good with other dogs but could possibly be okay as the only dog depending on the circumstance. Â Zenni is probably 4 or 5 years old and weighs 6 pounds. Â She has a beautiful coat with wonderful fringed ears. Â You'll notice in her picture that she has two little teeth that stick out. Â Just too cute!
Zenni is crate trained and is doing very well on house training. Â She is leash trained and learning to enjoy rides in the car. Â She has figured out that treats are a good thing and just recently has been tearing around the house. Â I think it's an attempt to play. Â
Zenni will need to live where there is a fenced yard and with someone that is home more then not; someone that works from home, is retired, can take their dog to work or works very part time. Although Zenni is fine with children, Â mill dogs are not candidates to live in homes with children. Â They do not play or interact as children enjoy and therefore aren't a good mix.
Zenni will need someone that is soft and gentle with her. Â As with all mill dogs Zenni will need to live with someone that understands that her healing is a process and will continue to teach her to trust and not be fearful. Â Mill dogs lives are so abnormal. Â Zenni has spent her entire life in a 2 by 3 foot cage, never being handled, petted, never having her feet on the ground. Â She will need to live with someone that will continue to heal her. Â
Zenni would make a wonderful therapy dog in time. Â She is soft and sweet and very much loves her pets. Â She would be a good dog for visiting at nursing homes.
If you are interested in Zenni and think that your lifestyle and environment fit Zenni's needs please e-mail for an application or more information. Â Copy and paste the e-mail as the link does not always work. Â Please take the time to click on the Star-Mar Website under Zenni's Contact Info to learn about our program and our adoption requirements.
PS. Â Zenni is MUCH cuter then her pictures. Â She was a little concerned about the camera.
Please note that Star-Mar Rescue does not buy dogs to "adopt". All Star-Mar Rescue dogs come from shelters and from puppy mills or owners that relinquish their dogs free of charge. Star-Mar Rescue does not use Petfinder to buy and sell dogs under the guise of rescue.
