MIRABELLE Domestic Short Hair Mix Grand Rapids, MI

I happen to know a really nice gal who lives on the NE side of town who happens to be a cat magnet; over the years we have taken in or helped her with several strays, so when she emailed me mid-September, 2012 to see if I could help once again, I was happy to say that I could. However, when she brought me this very vocal, very opinionated girl I knew we had a bit of a rough road of adjustment ahead of us.

Born in 2006 I am thinking, Mirabelle appears to have had quite the tough life before deciding to stake claim on Michelle's yard in the spring. All of her canine teeth are broken down to the gum line and the rest are worn down from chewing on who only knows what. Her neck and back were terribly scabby and she sported a X-shaped scar on her hip, along with a nodule of scar tissue from some sort of injury not too long ago. Couple this with the fact she had to fend for herself and fight for food and no wonder Mirabelle is misunderstood.

Now this gorgeous girl has nothing to worry about, as we will dote on her hand and foot regardless of what type of an attitude she cops for us. We understand that it takes time and patience in order to crack the hard exterior of some of these mentally and physically damaged cats; time and patience are our specialty! I can only imagine how hard it is to have to learn to trust again, to accept that the hand that feeds you is not one that will harm you. Now one-on-one, away from the pesky presence of the other felines, Mirabelle is gentle and affectionate; she really needs a home to call her very own in order to blossom into the calm, confident cat we know she wants to be. I am a firm believer that the kitties that need the most from us will give us much more back in return, we just have to allow them to bloom at their own pace:)
