Hi my name is Pappy! I was wandering the streets of Oak Cliff in Dallas with a jar on my head for days. I couldn't eat, drink or even see beyond the scope of my tiny prison. Finally some Good Samaritans were able to catch me and save my life. No one knows for sure because I'm not talking about it, but the people who helped me think that I was used as a bait dog. I had scars on my body and a lacerated toe (which later had to be removed). When a dog is used as bait for training fighting dogs someone will often cut them to make them bleed and that makes the other dogs want to fight. Yes, I had a horrible life..... until the day that I was saved.


Now I am living in a foster home with other dogs and I get along fine with all of them. I am overcoming my emotional wounds and my physical wounds are healed. I am a sweet and loving boy and I'm learning to trust people again.


You might be wondering about my name, but since 'jar head' is slang for a Marine, AAT searched the internet to find famous Marines and came upon Gregory 'Pappy' Boyington of WWII fame, the leader of the Black Sheep Squadron. Since I am black and I have joined the many other black AAT dogs, AAT has a Black DOG Squadron of their own!
