We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Snuggles is a sweet dachshund whose owner went into hospice and Snuggles went into foster care with a 501c3 rescue. (we recently found out her real name and it describes her to a T. This 7 year old girl is very overweight but now that she is on an excellent low fat diet she is slowly dropping pounds. Now she is 18 pounds and should be more like 15. Snuggles has a wonderful, easy going personality and she just loves her foster dad. But--she wants to be the only dog in her foster home and so we are hoping to find a doxie lover who would like to foster her. Snuggles would prefer a quieter adult home without kids, and she is good about being home during the work day although she would be a wonderful companion for someone who is home a lot. Snuggles is well house trained and doesn't need to be kenneled. She enjoys sniffing around the fenced yard with that hound nose of hers, but without a fenced yard would need to be kept on a leash so she doesn't stray. Snuggles is with a 501c3 rescue and is fully vetted. THERE IS NO FEE TO FOSTER AND ALL SUPPLIES ARE PROVIDED. If you are interested in adopting Snuggles please read her webpage http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/24175303 for more information about Snuggles, her adoption fee and criteria and her vet care. Snuggles will be just a wonderful, loving companion for someone who enjoys the companionship of a quiet, gentle dog. It's pretty sad that anyone would flag a sweet dog who lost the only home she has known. Thank you for allowing her to find a new family. Snuggles came to us already spayed, but she required a full dental, heartworm testing and pill, flea/tick prevention, updated distemper parvo and rabies vaccines, worming and she has a HomeAgain microchip. Her adoption fee of $225 is to cover all this veterinary care.
To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.
