Meet Cooper

COOPER:  Purebred Shiba Inu, Neutered male, 4 years old, 30 lbs.

I am a pure breed Shiba Inu.  I used to have a happy life with my family in one of the nicest neighborhoods.  One day, my owner got pregnant and they decided they didn’t want me anymore.  Instead of finding me a loving home, they gave me to the garbage man in our community.  The garbage man was so thrilled because I’m a good-looking pure breed Shiba.  I didn’t know any better and happily went with him thinking I would have a better life.  Unfortunately, he locked me up in a tiny cage for about a year and never let me out.  Ever since then, I was left out in the cold in an old dirty cage filled with garbage.  I barely had enough to eat and was only given food that was found in the garbage.  I patiently waited and waited in my cage thinking that my family would come back for me.  One day I broke free from my cage and I ran as fast as I could to find my way back home.  Sadly, I was not let inside the front gate; they had forgotten about me since they had a new baby.  They called the garbage man again and I was sent back to my filthy locked cage.  I was absolutely heartbroken and at that point, I gave up completely.  I thought I would never have a chance to see this beautiful world again.  After a year of waiting, the garbage man also decided to get rid of me.  He called my foster mom who lives in the same neighborhood.  After my foster mom spoke with the garbage man, without a doubt, she came to my rescue and was deeply saddened by what she saw.  Nothing was beautiful; all she saw was piles of garbage covering my cage.  She let me out immediately, took me home and gave me a nice long bath.  I felt enormous relief and have enjoyed every moment of life from that point on.  I am now in a home filled with genuine love and care.  Because I had been locked up for so long, I forgot how nice it is to be touched so sometimes I’m sensitive when picked up.  However, the feeling of being hugged is slowly coming back to me and I have been progressing very well.  My foster mom thinks I am ready for a new life and hopes to find me a responsible and loving family very soon so that I won’t get too attached to her and her family.  I get along great with young children and enjoy hanging out with my foster mom’s 5 year old son.  If you can find room in your heart and home, I would love to share my life with you!
