NOTES FROM FOSTER FAMILY:

Hi everyone, my name is Chewie.  As you can see from my picture, I am a strapping, handsome guy.  Yes, I am a bit bigger than most Pekingese, but that is because I did not get the proper amount of exercise as a puppy, and now that I am 6 years older, well you know how hard it is to shed those extra pounds as we get older.  I now am on a walking program where I slowly walk in little spurts throughout the day.  I love walks at new places so that I can enjoy all the sights and smells.  I am a great traveler as I just sit in my basket watching the road going to each new adventure.  I especially LOVE the treats I get during my walks, watermelon, strawberries, apples and carrots.  Yep!  Those are my favorites, and surprising they are really good at helping me lose weight.

At my foster mom's home, I have many friends like me, and some furry creatures called 'cats'.  I enjoy my other friends, but mostly like spending all my time with my foster mom.  Don't get me wrong, I GET ALONG WELL with friends, but I kind of like my foster mom more.  I follow her everywhere, and when she is staying in one area, I just settle down and watch her.  I am getting use to those furry creatures, but sometimes I can't help myself, I just want to play with them.  I kind of rush at them which I think scares them a little.  My mom is teaching me the proper way to visit with them, and I am doing much better, but I WOULD RATHER NOT be tempted.

As you can see from my photo, I am wearing a really cool coat.  I have two coats that I wear throughout the year.  The formal coat I like to wear in winter.  The short coat I LOVE to wear in the summer.  It really is my best coat since I am such a strapping boy with a bit extra body weight.

When it comes to my sleeping habits, my foster mom agrees with me that sleeping on her bed is just not suited for me.  I do like sitting with her before we both go to sleep, but I prefer my own bed because it is safer for me.  I am told that my family line is prone to back injuries if we were to fall, or jump off high places.  Our body shape are made low to the ground so jumping or a fall will hurt our backs far more than some of my friends who jump up and down off things with ease.  I do go up and down stairs when I go to the outside bathroom.

My foster mom has invited many smaller versions of her to the house to see if I would like to play with them.  I don't really mind them, they are nice, but honestly, NO, I WOULD RATHER NOT have them in my forever house.  I NEED companionship from someone like my foster mom, older and more willing to give me special attention that I missed with my previous owner.  It would be so wonderful to have both a mom and a dad since that would mean twice the attention for me, and once you know me, it will be the same for you.
