Meet Peggy Sue (Spayed) (Appt. Needed) - UPDATE

"Peggy Sue" is a beautiful 4-year old female Catahoula Leopard Dog mix who arrived at the HSOV on August 4, 2012 after she was picked up near Belpre, Ohio by the Washington County Dog Warden.  This lovely young lady has a blue-and-black short smooth coat in a merle pattern with white highlights on her chest, a long tail, and a very pretty face with a white stripe on her forehead.  "Peggy Sue" has a friendly personality and especially likes one of our kennel techs (Misty) who is very kind to her :)  "Peggy Sue" gives great doggy kisses!  She is a fairly small girl who weighs 35.6 lbs.  "Peggy Sue" is being listed as a 'Special Needs Dog' because she appears to have an old injury/fracture to her right hind leg.  She doesn't have any problem walking but does walk with a very noticeable limp.  "Peggy Sue' has been spayed recently, and she is up-to-date on vaccinations including rabies vaccine.  NOTE: "Peggy Sue" has found a wonderful foster home!  Her foster mother sent us such a glowing report about her that we wanted to share it in her own words ... "Miss Peggy Sue is one of the most loyal, eager-to-please girls that I have had the pleasure of fostering.  She does take a little time to warm up (she prefers slow introductions) but once you give her the time to feel comfortable, she is inseparable from her people.  This girl is so smart!  She knows sit, shake, lay down and roll over.  She is housetrained.  She sleeps quietly in her crate at night. She introduces very easily to dogs, not a single issue with large or small dogs, very social and at ease with my crew of six here.  We free feed and have not seen any signs of food aggression or guarding.  She stays back while mine are at the bowls and then when they leave, she takes a turn and my dogs pass her without any reaction.  There was a kitty at the shelter the day I picked her up and we sat outside together while the kitty rubbed all over her.  She is very sweet and gentle with my 9-year old daughter and will give her kisses and roll over for belly rubs.  She has an impaired back hip and her hind end does wobble quite a bit, but that doe not at all hinder her in any way (except she cannot jump on the bed).  She goes up and down stairs just fine.  She was excited when we were picking up sticks in the yard so I threw one for her, and she loves to play fetch, sometimes her bottom end gets the best of her and she falls, but it does not dampen her spirit.  I am praying that the x-ray of her back will show that this injury can be repaired and she can play without boundaries.  She deserves it, she is such a doll.  She is laying on my feet as I type this .. just can't help but love her."
