Age: 4 years old as of 5/17/12
Good with dogs: yes
Good with cats: unknown, but no reaction during cat testing
Good with kids: yes
Weight: 40lbs
Name/Nicknames: Carter

My Story: Carter was surrendered to the Martin County Humane Society by his previous owner, but we are not sure why. It is clear that his previous home did not consist of much structure or training. Regardless of how he got here- everyone who meets Carter insists on commenting on how CUTE he is! He is the perfect size-only 40lbs. And he hardly ever barks.

Hobbies: Carter loves to explore! He will sniff every new place he goes- you would think he is part hound! He loves to be next to people, and will follow his people around the house and yard.

Commands/Tricks: Carter knows Sit, Down, & Come and is working on Stay and Leave It

Crate / Potty Trained:  Yes to both!  100% crate and house trained

Activity Level: Medium- After he has gotten familiar with the place (i.e. sniffed everything!) Carter is a couch potato while indoors. Outdoors, however, he will run and play. If he finds a scent trail he will try and find out what it leads to.

Fun things I do: Carter is always happy to see his people and if he thinks that it is time for a car ride, he will go wait at the car, or jump in if it is open.

Socialization/who I currently live with: Carter currently lives with two adult humans (male and female), their two year old daughter, and their two medium sized  dogs.  Carter also has two Bichons for neighbors. Carter does well in a house with dogs, but would likely do well in a home without other dogs too.

My Ideal Family: Carter would love an active family that would include him in their fun activities. A fenced yard is a requirement for adoption as Carter gets easily distracted by squirrels. He also needs a family that will continue the obedience training that his foster family started, as a lot of the basic commands are still very new for him.  A family who has time and attention to devote is really all this guy needs!

Carter is attending Pet Haven's medium/large dog adoption events and his adoption fee is $300 (cash or check only) and includes spay/neuter, heartworm check, current vaccinations, and microchip and registration.

Due to post-adoption services provided, it is Pet Haven's policy to only place dogs into homes within a 60-mile radius of the Twin Cities area.
