These stunning creatures are Roy and Libby. 7 years old, Purebred German Shepherds. We do not believe they are related however we insist they must be adopted together. They love each other, sleep together and play together. Showing no signs of anxiety when separated for activities but their bond with each other is undeniable. Simply put they are soul mates. We would never dream of separating someone from their soul mate so for that reason these two must remain together forever.

They BOTH came from terrible pasts and were scheduled to be put to sleep when they were abandoned at a shelter down south. Luckily they found they had angels watching over them.

Roy was heartworm positive upon arrival and we are happy to relay he has safely overcome that battle. Since he is an older gent some hip problems have settled in over time but they are being managed well by diet, weight loss and regular exercise. Currently we are working with Roy to lose a few more unwanted pounds which will surely relieve some of the pain he feels on his joints. He is a typical Shepherd, who loves the outdoors, running around with anything from a branch to a ball in his mouth. The love for his “family” is strong and he can be protective of them. When properly introduced he does ok with strangers once he feels acquainted with them. Roy thoroughly enjoys a good belly rub, or two or three or more! Once Roy gets attached to his human, he will protect you no matter the outcome as do most shepherds.

Libby came to us very underweight and lost 90 percent of her hair. She LOVES people and has learned that playing can be rather exciting! With special diet and daily medication we have successfully gotten her allergies under control. Shedding just a few more pounds will also put her at a healthy weight. Proudly she displays her beautiful coat with fur thick and shiny. To maintain her progress she will need to remain on a prescription D/D food and medications for allergies likely for the rest of her life.

These two dogs have an abundance of love to give. Every night they dream of a loving family to call their own. They are happy whether they are indoors or outdoors and once they are acclimated in to their new family they will show the true breed of GSD with loyalty and fearless instinct to protect. Truly remarkable, loyal, devoted and affectionate creatures!

They are crate trained and actually adore sleeping curled up together in one extra large crate. They are great passengers in the car, appreciate the joy of swimming and embarking on an adventure to explore the beauty of nature!

If you or someone you know would like to open your heart and home to them they will make wonderful companions. They do require a pet free, adult home. Their new family must also be GSD savvy & have previous experience with the breed. If you have questions or are interested in meeting them please contact Shelley our shelter manager at 603.628.3544. Currently Roy and Libby are residing in the comfort of a foster home and are not usually at the shelter but they do visit on occasion.

Note: As with all of our dogs, we strongly recommend obedience classes for new owner and dog to create a life-long bond with the adopted dog based on trust, respect and rewarding training experiences. We are offering dog training classes through FMAS Wagtime Dog Training. You can check out more information at www.fmaswagtime.com. We can help you train practical skills you use every day with positive reinforcement training. Our shelter dogs are strays and we observe and assess their behavior at the shelter which may be somewhat different in a home environment. In addition dogs adopted from the Manchester Animal Shelter are spayed/neutered, microchipped and have received their Rabies and distemper vaccinations as well as other necessary medical care such as flea treatment. All dogs are also heartworm tested. Some prudent care such as heartworm medication is not provided at the shelter and should be taken care of at the earliest convenience upon adoption.
