Vernon is the sweetest, most affectionate kitty you will ever meet. He LOVES everybody he meets and just wants to be with you all the time. He was born in late 2010 or early 2011 and was lost or abandoned until he met a lady who saw he was in trouble. She fed him, looked for his home and later contacted Whiskers for help. Poor Vernon had been through some hard times and his ear was pretty damaged. Whiskers got him neutered, vaccinated and treated for his ailments from being outside on his own. Vernon tested positive for FIV, but he's a healthy and happy kitty otherwise and will make an excellent pet in a household with no other cats, or another cat that is FIV+. Vernon is absolutely LOVED by our volunteers!  He is the funniest, most loving kitty and we think...he reads your mind. :-)  If you bend over, he will be jumping on your back and giving you kisses.  Don't you want that?  FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. It is a lentivirus, meaning that it progresses very slowly, gradually affecting a cats immune system. It is passed through blood transfusions and through serious, penetrating bite wounds. FIV cats usually live long and healthy lives as long as they are kept up-to-date on vaccinations and any illnesses that develop are treated aggressively. Whiskers cats and kittens are ALL rescued from the surrounding CAPITAL DISTRICT. All of Whisker's cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, age appropriately vaccinated and tested for FELV/FIV prior to adoption. Click here for our Online Application
