Meet Phoebe

Name: Phoebe

Sex: Female

Approx. DOB:

Weight: Approx. 50 lbs.

Coat Color: Gray and White

Eye Color: Blue

Energy Level: Medium.

Personality:  Phoebe will be adopted out to a home with extensive Siberian experience as well as great training skills and knowledge. She will require a fenced in yard, a home with another Siberian or two and no children under 13 years of age. She came to us food aggressive and with some behavioral issues; she will hide under tables or chairs and snarl and potentially snap if you try to lead her out by her collar. We sent her to Nash Correctional for training and she did awesome but she still needs work and will need continued positive guidance for life. Her adopter will meet with our trainer and behaviorist to learn how to work with her. There is NO flexibility on that. She is a good girl and very playful but will need a watchful eye. She enjoys chew toys but does not chew on inappropriate things in the house. In the right hands and the right environment, Phoebe will be a great companion.

Good with Dogs: Phoebe does excellent with other dogs and loves to play. She will not be adopted out as an only dog as she needs the companionship.

Good with Cats: Phoebe will not be adopted out to a home with cats, small breeds or any other prey. Siberians are notorious for their high prey drive and typically kill cats, rabbits, birds, chickens, squirrels, opossums, etc.

Good with Children: Siberians are typically good with children of all ages and the only reason we would not list them as not good with kids is because they may be too energetic and bouncy and knock over a toddler.

House Trained: Yes

Crate Trained: Yes but she is not crated in her foster home because she is house trained and not destructive and can be trusted out and about the house.

Rides Well in Car: Yes

Leash Trained:

Basic Obedience: .

All Southern Siberian Rescue foster dogs are microchipped, up to date on shots, spay/neutered and on monthly heartworm preventative. For additional information on Southern Siberian Rescue and Siberian Huskies, please visit www.SouthernSiberian.com. To fill out an application, please visit How to Adopt.

Southern Siberian Rescue is based out of Raleigh, NC and serve SE states only (NC, SC, VA, WV, KY, GA, TN) due to our required home check that is part of our review process. We will try to serve other areas, only if there is no comparable Siberian Rescue or Siberian in your area. If we have a volunteer in your area that can do a home check for us, we will ask that you be prepared to drive to Raleigh, NC to meet the foster dog of interest. You will need to bring all of you existing pets and immediate family members to meet our dogs. We need to know that it is a good match for all involved. For local adopters, we will bring the foster dog(s) of interest to you at the home check.

SSR can not and will not hold dogs for anyone. We can’t. If we do, that means another Siberian will die in a shelter because a shelter dogs time is very limited, as is our foster space. We do our best to process applications in the order received and first application gets first interest in our foster dog(s). We understand that there will be scheduling conflicts with home checks and meet and greets with our foster homes and foster dogs and we will accommodate for that if a potential adopter has interest in a particular foster dog in our program.
