Meet VA-Baxter ADOPTED!

Please read the following listing COMPLETELY before submitting your adoption application to Doodle Rescue Collective Inc.

LOCATED IN WOODBRIDGE, VIRGINIA

MEET BAXTER! - A gorgeous 16 week old Goldendoodle puppy looking for a new forever home and family. He is currently 26 lbs. and will be a big boy between 65-70 lbs once he fully matures. He has a soft, mixed, wool/fleece non-shedding coat that will require grooming every 6-8 weeks.

Baxter was surrendered to DRC by his heartbroken family because their child had a severe allergic reaction to him. This is something we see everyday in doodle rescue and we CANNOT STRESS WHAT WE ARE ABOUT TO SAY MORE STRONGLY OR ENOUGH.

BEFORE you apply to adopt a doodle and BEFORE you purchase a doodle puppy, or ANY puppy deemed "hypo-allergenic" by a breeder, PLEASE EDUCATE YOURSELF AND BE AWARE. While they can be more "allergy-friendly", and "low shedding", MOST DOODLES SHED AND THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A HYPO-ALLERGENIC DOG! PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE SUBJECTING AN INNOCENT PUPPY TO THE TRAUMA OF RE-HOMING DUE TO ALLERGIES. Most human pet allergies are exacerbated by a reaction to the animals saliva NOT to their dander. BE PREPARED. A Doodle puppy will go through several coat changes as they mature and adult coat consistency is UNPREDICTABLE. THANK YOU.

Baxter is a fluffy, adorable, what we call "snuggleupagus" and an absolute delight! He rolls with the punches and has an exceptional temperament and fantastic manners for a puppy. Especially for a puppy who has been passed off to several different homes via craigslist. That's right! This poor little guy has literally had 4 different homes within the first 16 weeks of his life! He does not seem phased by it for the moment and is doing fantastically well is foster care. Although we are convinced that every time he gets in the car for a ride to the vet or to the groomer, he must be thinking he is going to yet another new home.

Baxter is a relatively laid back puppy all things considered. He does have all of the typical puppy behaviors we find so adorable and endearing such as being incredibly loving, snuggly, goofy and comically un-coordinated at times. He also has some of the OTHER typical puppy behaviors such as: occasional potty accidents, mouthing, mild puppy ADHD and some inappropriate chewing. He is still being potty-trained but he has had very few accidents in the house so far. His crate-training and having his older foster siblings to show him the ropes has certainly helped in this area. He has not yet officially entered the "puppy-destructo phase" of his development that usually comes when those sharp, little, needle-like puppy teeth start falling out to make way for adult teeth. But we know it is something we can certainly look forward to. Hey! This is what puppyhood is all about! Needless say, you must be totally puppy-savvy, prepared for all of the above and willing to take Baxter to puppy class for manners training and socialization in order to be considered.

Baxter would do really well in a home with another well-mannered dog to lead by example and for company. He will need a home with a yard surrounded by a physical fence at least 4' in height and where an adult member of his new puppy-savvy family is home for most of the day. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN UNDER 10 YEARS OF AGE! DRC does not adopt doodles to families with young children.

Baxter has received his first set of puppy shots and will receive his second round and a micro-chip before leaving foster care. Because of his young age, and to ensure healthy development of his bones and internal organs, Baxter will be adopted with a neuter contract that will require an additional $200 deposit refundable to his new family upon DRC's receipt of proof of neuter certificate from a veterinarian. Baxter will be an incredible addition to the right family.
